Welcome to Cranky Puppy Farm!

This blog belongs to two Gen X-er's smackdab in downtown Kansas City where we've been renovating and decorating two old Victorians built in the 1890's. Our life is filled with 3 demanding Pomeranians (1 of them cranky, of course), honking cars, noisy neighbors and the hustle and bustle of city life but we dream of the day when we can move to our 40-acre farm and hear nothing but the wind and the cows next door. Until then, we're chronicling our triumphs and mishaps here as we try to garden and preserve on 2 city lots, raise chickens, and learn all those things we should have learned from our grandparents. Welcome to our world - we hope you'll stay awhile!

Late Night Barn Charm

Tuesday, August 07, 2012

Today was our 20th day of 100+ degree temps and, according to the weather guess on Fox4, we're now officially in the 4th hottest year on record.  Today was back up at 105.  Yippee!  Looks like relief is coming tomorrow in the form of thunderstorms, though.

I'm a little under the weather and feeling really tired, so this is short post.  Instead, I'll leave you with this barn that J. and I discovered outside Kearney, MO on Sunday as we tooled along some back country roads.

  1. This is quite pretty with the black trim on the windows and the lovely white fence in front. I like how the windows are spaced out too. Great find!:>)

    1. J. actually took this photo, since the barn was on his side of the road. It's off a pretty busy highway, so we couldn't stop long. I was kind of lamenting the fact that the fence was in the way but, now that I see the picture, I don't think it detracts at all.

  3. The heat is getting to me, too... I went down last night and had to come in and take it easy. Am pooped out today, but grateful for the cooler temps. Is partially cloudy here... I sure hope the weathermen are right! Wish that barn would appear here suddenly, it's sure cute.

    1. I read that on your blog. I hope you are feeling better, Mary Ann. With those storms last night and this cooler weather (we have the windows open this morning!), I'm hoping people, plants and animals will all have a little more spring in our step. The heatwave has broken!

  8. I'm terribly sorry, but I'm running late this week w/ visits!

Did you get any rain this week? It was suppose to rain here in southeast Missouri yesterday & today, but it didn't... it hasn't been that hot, either, thank GOD! =)

Great barn find & thank you so much for joining this week's Barn Charm =)

  9. What a lovely place. I has been a miserable summer for so many. We've had normal temps in north Alabama for a couple of weeks. It is 64 degrees right now at 7 a.m.!!! Hopefully, your area will get cooled down soon.
